Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. at 14420- 154 Avenue NW, Edmonton AB, Canada T6V 0K8, is seeking 25 seasonal Construction Labourers to start in the Spring of 2023 until the fall of 2023 (approx. April 1st to Dec 1 depending on weather). Working at various work location sites throughout the Edmonton and area, Rotation is weather dependent 10-12 hours per day, 6 days a week and performs some or all of the following:

  • Mobilize and spread topsoil and other materials
  • Building retaining walls, paving stone installation, concrete forming, laying pavers for pathways.
  • Underground utility installation and other types of civil work.
  • Operating small packers, shoveling, heavy lifting, etc.
  • Lay sod, plant flowers, grass, shrubs, and trees
  • Beginner equipment operator.
  • Carpenter helper.
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens.
  • Perform other duties to assist with the construction of a landscape and related structures.

Work Conditions & Physical Capabilities:

  • Hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, attention to detail.
  • Tight deadlines.
  • Physically demanding (bending, crouching, kneeling, walking).
  • Various locations outdoors, wet/damp/hot, noisy and dusty.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 license and reliable vehicle is mandatory. Candidates must have own transportation (public transit is not available).
  • Previous landscaping or civil experience is considered an asset.

Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. are looking for a Fleet Vehicle and Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team.

Functions

Diagnose, repair, and maintain fleet vehicles and equipment.

Work with Service Manager to prioritize and review repair orders to meet field demands.

Perform all repairs in a timely manner.

Perform diagnostics and strategize repairs to maximize efficiency.

Perform quality repairs and verify repairs before equipment leaves the shop.

Perform equipment repairs and service on site when necessary.

Keep detailed and accurate service reports and documentation.

Promote and carry out Wilco Safety Procedures and documentation.

Requirements

Journeyman Automotive Service (310s) Certification.

Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Technician.

Heavy Equipment Technician – Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Off Road).

Heavy Equipment Technician – Truck and Transport Mechanic.

Minimum 5 years experience.

Experience with Ford and GM trucks considered an asset.

Ability to work within a flexible schedule.

Good with computers, smart devices and adaptive to new work order program.

Quality-driven individual who has a good sense of planning.

Self-motivated individual with strong personal work practices.

Possess a valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 preferred).

Must have the tools required to repair light trucks.

Standard First Aid, WHMIS CSTS20 and TDG (training available).

Able to work Saturdays (April to October), most long weekends off.

Able to travel to Fort McMurray when required.

Functions

Being hands-on in field construction directly involved in all aspects of project construction including planning, construction, quantity verification, and safety.

Ensures that all work is being done safely and in an efficient manner that maintains Wilco’s excellent quality.

Ensure subcontractors compliance with specifications and timelines for their scope of work.

Responsible for training staff according to Wilco procedures and safe work practices.

Requirements

Valid drivers license.

4 years experience.

Demonstrable leadership skills.

Solid understanding of equipment operation.

Strong numeracy skills, record keeping and technology usage.

Ability to read and execute plans, read grade stakes and use laser level.

Work unsupervised with a 3-5 person crew.

Have advanced knowledge of the fundamental principals of landscaping including grading, planting and hardscape.

Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. is looking for Surveyor Assistant to join our team.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Construction Surveyor, the Surveyor Assistant will be involved in all aspects of construction including take-offs, site setup and calibration, construction layout, as-builts and quantity reports. The candidate must have a can-do attitude, be motivated to learn and be willing to occasionally perform other non-survey related tasks.

Requirements

Perform preliminary, construction, quantity and as-built surveys.

Accurate survey notes and sketches.

Precise installation of stake lines and survey control.

Complete field survey requests, measurements, setup and configuring survey instruments including grade control machines.

Perform topographic surveys to document construction progress.

Experience with Trimble and asset.

Experience with droves and asset.

Working Conditions

Work schedule is Monday – Saturday.

Periodic work out of town may be required.

Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Physically able to kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods of time.

Extended hours/overtime (40-65 hours per week).

Salary

Wilco is currently seeking multiple Heavy Equipment Operators (multi-equipment) to join our diverse and dynamic team. Most equipment is CAT. Operators are required for the following:

  • Ability to work as a team as well as independently.
  • CSTS2020, Standard First Aid and Ground Disturbance Level II (training provided).
  • Capable of operating under numerous and varied job site situations.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Landscaping experience preferred (installing sod, trees, shrubs, mulch).
